Alice F. Powell (Yaghdjian)

Alice F. Powell was the beloved wife of the late Douglas V. Powell, and devoted mother of Kristine Lash and her husband Kevin, Eric Powell and his wife Diana, and Danielle Dunlay and her husband Richard. She was a cherished grandmother to Brandon and his wife Katie, Alyssa, Chloe, and Lily.

She was the daughter of the late Haroutioun and Haygouhi (Arakelian) Yaghdjian and sister of the late Elizabeth Meldonian, Angele Keshian, and Rosette Antoine. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Born in Marseille, France, in 1938, Alice immigrated to America with her family in 1952. She loved her new country and proudly graduated from Medford High School in 1956. She attended Chandler’s School for Women and later pursued courses in accounting.

Alice worked for American Mutual in Wakefield, where she met her future husband, Douglas. They married in June 1966 and settled in Wakefield, where they shared 50 wonderful years together until Douglas’ passing in April 2017.

Alice treasured time spent with her family and close friends. She loved to read and enjoyed listening to music, especially the Beach Boys, Elvis, Tina Turner and Tom Petty. She will be remembered for the love she had for her family, her appreciation for the life she built in America, and the many memories she shared with those closest to her.
