Anna Savini

Anna Maria Savini , age 91, of Great Falls, Virginia, died peacefully on July 5, 2022.

Anna was born April 15, 1931 to Franco Savini and Angelina (Covitti) Savini in Rome, Italy.

She spent a happy childhood with her sisters until it was interrupted by the tragedy of World War II. Shortly after Anna's mother died in 1947, her family moved to the United States and settled in Medford, Massachusetts. Anna married Sergio Antonelli in 1956 and raised three children in Medford, Billerica, and Rockland. She later moved to Texas where she lived with her two sons before moving in her retirement to Great Falls, Virginia to live for twenty-three years with her daughter and son-in-law.

Anna worked for many years in business data processing and as a writer. When not working, she enjoyed music, playing her piano, painting, knitting, gardening and cooking. She also was an accomplished poet and received recognition by the International Society of Poets for her work. In her later years, she wrote a memoir of her life as a lovely remembrance for her close family and friends. During her time in retirement while living in Great Falls, Virginia, she was active in her local church's seniors' group, the Red Hat Society, and local women's organizations.

Anna was a strong and brave woman who survived countless challenges in her life, including being a two-time cancer survivor, living almost thirty years after her initial diagnosis. She also was a kind and caring friend to so many she met through her community activities both in Texas and Virginia.
She will be missed by her family both in Italy and the United States. She is survived by her son, Frank Antonelli of Austin, Texas, and her daughter, Angela Antonelli, and son-in-law, Michael David, of Great Falls, Virginia. She is predeceased by her husband Sergio, and her son, Louis Antonelli. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Alan Bandoni of Mashpee, and her sister, Wilma Alessandro of Malden, and many nieces and nephews.
