Anne M . Baker , 83, of Wakefield, died on Wednesday, February 18 at her home.

Born in Boston on March 4, 1925 she was daughter of the late Ferdinand and Mary (Caprio) Luongo.

Mrs. Baker was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1942. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" in Charlestown in 1943 during World War II and later worked for Mirra Construction in Woburn as a Bookkeeper before her retirement. She was also a longtime Secretary for St. Joseph Church.

Mrs. Baker was a member of St. Joseph parish in Wakefield and an active member of St. Joseph C.C.D. program. She was a Girl Scout Leader for over 50 years and a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She also worked for and volunteered for the Mystic Valley Elder Services of Malden.

Mrs. Baker was the wife of the late James F. Baker , Jr. Mother of Michael J. Baker and his wife Denise and Mary Lou Eldredge and her husband David all of Wakefield. Sister of Ferdinand Luongo of Byfield and the late Louis Luongo. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Brett and Aimee Baker and Erin and Julie Eldredge.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
