Arthur J. Lamphier, age 84, of Wakefield passed away at the Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston on July 8, 2025.
He was born in Malden on December 3, 1940, and was the son of Edward and Georgina (Williams) Lamphier.
Arthur was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School. He went on to graduate from Merrimack College and returned to Malden Catholic where he taught math for five years, before going on to New England Life where he spent the entirety of his career until his retirement in 2002.
Arthur is reunited with his wife Cecelia who passed one year ago. Together they raised their family in Wakefield and were blessed with many friends, including their longtime and more recent neighbors who were a source of joy and care in their final years.
Arthur was a good friend to many. He was always ready to join in any game or competition he could find from hockey at Merrimack, whiffle ball with his grandkids, or cards with his longtime friends. He also loved to follow the adventures of his 10 grandchildren and all their varied interests.
He was the beloved husband of the late Cecelia (Phinney) with whom he shared 59 years or marriage. He was the devoted and loving father of Michael Lamphier and his wife Jacqueline of Wakefield, John Lamphier and his wife Tara of Warwick, RI and Andrea Reese and her husband Daniel of Weddington, NC. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren: Emily, James, Colin, Genevieve, Matthew, Alex, Morgan, Jack, Jake and Meredith. He was the brother of Claire Morrissey of Venice, FL and the late Edward C. and David Lamphier. He is also survived by his brothers in law John and Donald Phinney.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield on Monday, July 21 at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Sunday, July 20 from 1-4pm. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
