Barbara Gearin

Barbara A. Gearin, 86, of York, Maine formerly of Wakefield died on Saturday, December 6 at the York Hospital.

Born in Boston on July 22, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Genevieve (King) Hayes.

Mrs. Gearin was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1946. She was a member St. Joseph Parish in Wakefield and a former member of the St. Joseph Sodality. Mrs. Gearin was also a member of the Tuesday Nighters for over 40 years.

She was the wife of the late Robert P. Gearin. Mrs. Gearin is survived by her 8 children; Kathleen Farren, Patricia Hurley and her husband John, Robert M. Gearin and his wife Anne and Maureen Peard and her husband William all of York, Maine, Christine DeFelice and her husband Richard of Wakefield, Marianne Moses and her husband Jeffrey and Barbara Gearin and her companion Dennis Myers all of Saugus and Michael J. Gearin and his wife Cheryl of Stoneham, her 3 sisters; Jeanne Bachelder of York, ME, Lillian Meli of Haverhill and Joanne Doucette of North Andover and her 2 brothers; Michael Hayes and his wife Lisa of Winthrop and David Hayes and his wife Pat of Stoneham. She was also the grandmother of 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Gearin was predeceased by her brother William Hayes and her sister Helen Arnold.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Thursday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8pm.

Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
