Barbara Smith

SMITH, BARBARA P ., 88, of Wakefield on November 26, 2014. Wife of the late Thomas C. Smith , mother of the late Karen Smith Stanford. Survived by her daughter, Janet M. Smith , and her husband, R. Robert Woodburn, Jr., of Wellesley, MA; her son-in-law, John P . Stanford of Santa Fe, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. She graduated from high school in South Portland, ME in 1943. A graduate of Simmons College, Class of 1947, Barbara taught kindergarten in Lunenburg, North Reading, and Wakefield. She lived in Wakefield for 56 years and was a member of Bear Hill Golf Club since 1958. A memorial service will be held on April 11, 2015 at 11 AM at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 5 Bryant Street, Wakefield, MA, with a reception at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Karen Smith Stanford Fund of The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield, Inc., P . O. Box 321, Wakefield, MA 01880.
