Beatrice A. Dantona

Beatrice Ann Dantona, age 87, of Wakefield passed away on Monday, May 12 at the Winchester Hospital.

Born in Boston on April 11, 1938 she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Lena (Mascis) Aceto.

Mrs. Dantona was raised in East Boston and Malden. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She especially liked making her famous Pastina, a tradition she had passed on. She found great joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and always looked forward to their visits, whether in person or via FaceTime. Recently she took up the hobby of drawing, expressing an impressive hidden talent.

She was the beloved wife of Robert Dantona. She was the loving mother of Carla Prokop and her husband Robert of Chaska, MN, Jacqueline Downing and her husband Edward of Wakefield, and Robert Dantona Jr. of Wakefield. She was the sister of Louis Aceto and his wife Evelyn of Tewksbury, and the late John Aceto (surviving wife Bernice) and the late Francis Aceto (late wife Annette). She was the dear cousin of the late Ceclia Mazzone (late husband Patrick). She was the grandmother of Kyle Prokop of Springfield, VA, Matthew Prokop and his wife Brea of St. Louis Park, MN, Ryan Downing and his wife Haley of Pelham, NH, Jessica Grover and her husband Kyle of Chelmsford, and Joseph and Alyssa Dantona of Stoneham. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Luella and Giovanni Prokop, Mason Downing, and Brady Grover, as well as her former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Dantona of Stoneham, and many nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday, May 20 at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, May 19 from 4-7pm. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
