Bette Jane Borges (Newcomb) a long-time resident of Stoneham, MA passed away peacefully on May 2, 2024 with loved ones by her side.
Bette Jane affectionately known as Bette, BJ, Bobby, Mom, Nana, Hon, and Auntie was born on February 10, 1943 to loving parents F. Dwight Newcomb, Jr. and Mary Jane (Mae) Graham in Woburn, MA.
Bette Jane is survived and deeply loved by her daughter, Cheryl Gahm (Borges), her husband, David, and her two grandsons, Ethan and Alex Gahm of New Hampshire, her beloved boyfriend of over 30 years, Rod Ames of Reading, MA, her devoted sister, Helen O. Newcomb and caring niece, Lisa Reed. She is predeceased by her adored son, Brian Borges.
Bette Jane was a long-time resident of Stoneham, MA and graduate of Stoneham High School. She spent most of her career in Accounts Payable at Addison Wesley Publishing Company where she met many lifelong friends and retired from. She also continued many of the friendships she made as a member of the Inter-Church Association (ICA) after high school.
Bette Jane loved to spend time with her family laughing, going on little trips, stopping at yard sales along the way, spending time at cottages at lakes and being together at holidays. Becoming a Nana brought her much joy, spending time with her grandson’s playing cards, going to sporting events and watching movies together. Her and her boyfriend enjoyed dancing, playing cards with friends spending time at the Stoneham Senior Center and going down the Cape and to Florida.
A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate Bette Jane’s life will be held at the Aletheia Church (Formerly the First Baptist Church) on Saturday, May 11th at 11:00 AM, located at 457 Main Street, Stoneham, MA 02180. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
