Calvin Cook

Calvin J. (CJ) Cook, 30 of Boston, formerly of Magnolia died at his home on Saturday April 2.

Born in Salem, February 21, 1992, he was the son of Calvin P. Cook and Cindy (Overfield) Cook of Beverly.

Calvin was raised in Magnolia and was a graduate of Manchester-Essex Regional High School Class of 2011 where he was a member of the football team. Following high school, he went on to graduate from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He was employed with SmartLabs of Boston as an Accountant.

Simple words cannot adequately capture who Calvin was. Calvin was lovable, kind, smart, funny, inquisitive, loving, generous, athletic, engaging, adventurous, tenacious, imperfect, compassionate, intriguing, rugged, and charismatic.

He loved his soulmate Rachel, his family, his friends, traveling the world, the Jayhawks, the Patriots, videogames, and football. He was the classic older brother. He would torment his siblings but was always there to protect them from the rest of the world. He cared more deeply about those around him then he did himself and would literally give someone the shirt off his back. He had the wisdom of a man who had lived a thousand years. He spoke with such grace and stoicism that we were all convinced he would become a lawyer one day. He was a good-natured ball-buster with his friends and family. He had the best and most contagious deep belly laugh and his smile lit up the room.

Rachel was the love of Calvin's life, his true soul mate. Together, they created so many memories and traveled the world together. Calvin especially loved to make Rachel laugh and always had dance moves to make that happen.

Calvin had dreams of marrying Rachel, having children, building a home, and having a successful career. Sadly, we all lost Calvin too soon, we will not see him realize those dreams, we will miss his smile and his laughter, and we are heartbroken.

Calvin is survived by his parents, Calvin and Cindy, his girlfriend Rachel Kutikov, brother Kolton (Koko) Cook, sisters Kali and Casey Cook, grandmother Wanda Overfield, as well as, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his baby sister, Kendall Rose, and grandparents Calvin and Hazel Cook.

His Funeral Service will be held at the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Wakefield on Wednesday April 13, at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday April 12, from 3-7 p.m.

Interment following the service will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
