Carmella Vinchesi

Carmella A. Vinchesi, age 98, of Reading, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on Wednesday, November 25 th.

Born in Charlestown on January 25, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Armando and Carmella (Ferranti) Bernardi.

Carmella was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1940 and Malden School of Nursing. She was a World War II Navy Nurse Veteran and retired as a Registered Nurse from The Whidden Hospital in Everett.

Carmella was the beloved wife of the late Andrew J. Vinchesi. She was the loving mother of Dianne Schermerhorn and her husband James of Truro, Andrea Hart and her husband Dennis of North Reading, and Robert Vinchesi and his wife Christine of North Reading. Carmella was the grandmother of Alicia Green, Richard Green, Jessica Hoey, Jenna McCarthy, Sarah Vinchesi, and Scott Vinchesi. She is also survived by her three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Carmella was predeceased by her nine siblings.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Monday, November 30 th at 10am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carmella's memory to Mission of Deeds, 6 Chapin Ave, Reading, MA 01867.
