Carol Ann Harrington

Carol Ann Harrington, age 74 of Medford, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, Monday September 14 at her residence.

She was born in Everett on December 17, 1951 and was the daughter of the late Salvatore & Angelina (Merlina) D’Amico.

To those who knew her, she was much more than a grandmother. She was a caregiver, a confidant, a friend and a second home. She helped raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her door was always open, and so was her heart.

Grammy had a way of making everyone feel like family. She welcomed everyone to her table, and all of her grandchildren’s friends fondly considered her their Grammy too. She was always looking for a way to help, never hesitating to do whatever she could for the people she loved.

If you didn’t know where Grammy was, there was a good chance she was in the kitchen cooking something. She loved feeding people and was famous for making enough food to feed an army, only to ask “Do you think this is enough food?” Her kitchen and her table were places where people gathered, laughed, shared stories, and felt at home. The holidays, in particular will never be the same without her.

She had a heart of gold and loved deeply and unconditionally. Her generosity, warmth, and willingness to always put others before herself touched more lives than she probably realized.

While her family is heartbroken by her passing, there is comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering. Her memory will live on in the meals she prepared, the traditions she created, the stories that will continue to be told, and most importantly, in the people she loved and the lives she helped shape.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick C. Harrington Jr. She was the loving mother of Tracy Ivey and her husband William of Medford and the late Frederick C. Harrington III. She was the sister of Joseph D’Amico of Billerica, and the late Roberta D’Amico. Carol is also survived by her 3 grandchildren Brittney and her partner Chris, William and his Wife Caitlin, and Kristie, and her great grandchildren Elizah, Tyler, Ivey, Aaliyah, Landon and Savannah.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Friday, September 18th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the McDonald-Finnegan Anderson Funeral Home, 322 Main Street, Stoneham, MA. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 19th at 11:00am at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, followed by interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.

Family and friends are invited to gather afterward at Anthony’s of Malden, 105 Canal St. Malden, MA at 1:00pm to continue celebrating her life and sharing memories.
