Catherine “Kay” (McGrath) Mitchell, born Jun 18, 1928 in Boston, MA passed away on March 29, 2026. Kay’s parents were Frank and Mary (Hendley) McGrath from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She had two brothers, Frank and John, and a sister, Carol Ann, who had all predeceased her.
She was married to Robert Mitchell for over 60 years; he passed away in 2012. They had two daughters, Linda and the late Elaine, and two grandchildren, Monique and Richard.
She worked at Friendly Ice Cream for over 25 years as a short order cook and ice cream scooper. The family always had lots of delicious ice cream in their freezer at home.
She loved the holidays and enjoyed cooking for her large extended family.
This was a poem that was written by her niece Marybeth “MB” for her 80th birthday. It’s the perfect poem to remember her by today.
