Cheryl Lynn Powell, 74, of Lynnfield, passed away on August 8, 2026.
Born on January 3, 1952, in Wakefield, Cheryl was the daughter of the late George F. Powell and Ruby L. (Cartee) Powell.
A true free spirit from the start, Cheryl grew up in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1970. She went on to earn her Associate Degree from Graham Junior College before answering a call to serve her country as a member of the United States Army. After her military service, Cheryl pursued her real passion, earning a Certificate in Film Production from Boston University and dedicating herself to the world of storytelling and cinema. Cheryl had a deep love for movies and the art of storytelling that shaped nearly everything she did. She brought that passion into the classroom as an acting teacher at John Robert Powers, where she found tremendous joy working with her students and helping them discover their own creative voices. Those who knew her understood that Cheryl was someone who lived life on her own terms. She was dedicated to the film industry, endlessly curious about the craft of performance, and always generous with her knowledge and encouragement. She also had a soft spot for animals, whose company she treasured throughout her life.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ronald R. Powell. She is survived by her brothers, Gary R. Powell and his wife Emily Powell, and George L. Powell and his wife Lori Powell.; her sister-in-law Neva Powell; and many beloved nieces and nephews, including Jody Neukuckatz, Gary Powell, Laurie Hogan, Leslie Taylor, Adam Powell, Scott Powell, Jake Powell, Andy Powell, Matthew Powell, Joseph Powell, and Kristina Cameron.
May she find everlasting peace in God care, reunited with those she loved who went before her.
