Christine Marie Sutherland

Christine Marie Sutherland, age 63, of Wakefield, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on July 11, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 8, 1962, in Melrose, Christine was the cherished daughter of the late Frank and Christine (Sheppard) Luciani. Raised and educated in Wakefield, she developed a deep passion for gardening and floral design, leading to a fulfilling career that reflected her creativity and love for beauty.

Christine was also a magnificent baker and a devoted animal lover. Her commitment to the welfare of animals was evident in her volunteer work with Sgt. Peppers Friends, an organization in Aruba where she dedicated much time and from which she fostered and adopted three beloved dogs. Aruba was a special place for her, often regarded as her favorite travel destination.

Christine had a keen eye for design and fashion that left a lasting impression. She cherished moments spent by the water, particularly on Cape Cod, which brought her much joy.

She is survived by her loving husband Gary; her daughter, Jessica Sutherland, her son, Mark Sutherland and his wife Mallory; her brother Jimmy Luciani; and her four grandchildren, Collins, Jameson, Wyatt, and Bodhi. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Karen Luciani.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Lazarus Center for Healing Shrine/St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield on Thursday, July 17 at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
