Claire M. Rose, age 93 of Weymouth, passed away on Saturday, November 15 at CareOne Wilmington.
She was born in Boston on December 14, 1931, the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (McDermott) Hussey.
Claire grew up in the Saint Patrick Parish area on Dudley Street in Roxbury where she lived with her parents and two brothers and two sisters. Upon her marriage to Ray on September 14, 1952, they moved to the Naval Base in Squantum, a neighborhood of Quincy, where her husband served in the Navy. In 1954, she gave birth to their son Skip at the Chelsea Naval Hospital. In 1960, Ray was transferred to the Naval Base in South Weymouth, where they lived on base until finally settling in South Weymouth in the house they built in 1966. They spent much of their last 30 years together splitting their time between Weymouth and a home in Fort Myers, Florida. Claire became a licensed beautician, working as a hairdresser at various shops in Weymouth for nearly twenty years. She ultimately became an Inspector for the Massachusetts Board of Registration, a position from which she retired.
She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond C. Rose. She was the loving mother of Raymond C. Rose, II (Skip) and his wife Lenora of Reading. She was the sister of the late Charles Hussey, Donald Hussey, Margaret McLaughlin and Catherine Hussey. She is survived by her granddaughter Catherine Rose.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan-Anderson Funeral Home, 322 Main Street, STONEHAM on Friday November 21st from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion Street, Wakefield on Friday November 21st at 11:30 a.m. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
