Clara Chu, age 45 of Stoneham, passed away peacefully on Monday January 12 at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln.
She was born in Boston on October 19, 1980, the daughter of Sui Chu and the late Yee (Yue) Chu.
Clara was a graduate of Clark University, and went on to earn a Master’s Degree from Emerson College. She was an adjunct professor at Northeastern University. Clara worked as a Speech Language Pathologist at Thom Mystic Valley Early Intervention for 18 years, specializing in feeding issues for children under 3 years old. She mentored many of her colleagues and new students with her specialized expertise.
Clara was a beacon of kindness, caring, and generosity and motivated by helping others, both personally and professionally. She created bonds with many people from all walks of life, making her friends and family feel special by remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and other life events. An exemplary foodie, she had encyclopedic knowledge of restaurants in and around Boston and abroad. She loved traveling, visiting Japan, Canada, Hong Kong, and Europe. She forged a special connection with Aletheia Church, who helped guide and comfort her and her family.
Clara was the beloved wife of Henry Chase and the loving mother of Sterling Chase of Stoneham. She was the sister of Calvin Chu, his wife Lindsey, and aunt to Miles and Silas Chu of Medford. She also leaves behind her loving grandparents, aunts Lisa, Hilda, and Lydia, and uncle Chuck, all of Melrose. Clara was the wonderful daughter-in-law of Avery and Richard Chase of Princeton and sister-in-law of Sarah and Meagen Monahan of Sharon.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan-Anderson Funeral Home, 322 Main Street, Stoneham on Friday, January 16 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Her Funeral Service will be held at the Aletheia Church, 457 Main Street, Stoneham on Saturday, January 17 at 11:00 a.m., with additional visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham. A reception will follow at Aletheia Church.
