David Lee Blankenship

David Lee Blankenship, devoted loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 11, 2026, at the age of 79, in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

He was born in Morton, Washington, on March 16, 1946 to parents Edwin Blankenship and Edith Humphries. David spent his early years on the West Coast, where he worked as a Logger.

In 1966 he served as a Medic in the United States Army, where he met his wife Jo-An of 58 years. After his military service, David settled on the East Coast and began his career as a machinist at Manton Gaulin in Everett, MA and Harmonic Drive in Peabody MA.

David was also a proud Master Mason and deeply valued the fellowship and brotherhood he found there. He was a devoted husband to his wife Jo-An , A proud father to Kerri and Keith Blankenship, a cherished father-in-law to Elizabeth Blankenship, and a loving grandfather to Sarah and Daniel Blankenship. He loved being a dad. He loved being “Grampa.” His pride and joy were the accomplishments of his family. Through out his life, he loved working on his home, collecting arrowheads along the Columbia River and fishing.

He leaves behind a home he loved filled with memories, stories that will continue to be told and steadfast love. 

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.


Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday, February 20, 2026, 3-6pm.
