David A. Emmons, age 89 of Stoneham, passed away on Tuesday July 28 at the Winchester Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He was born in Melrose on June 5, 1937 and was the son of the late Allen and Frances (Mallon) Emmons.
David Emmons lived a life grounded in faith, friendship, service, and a love of the outdoors. A devoted member of St. Joseph Parish in Wakefield, David was actively involved in his church community and dedicated his career to the United States Customs Service.
While drinking Earl Grey tea, he enjoyed watching sports on television and laughing at The Simpsons. He loved his annual pilgrimages to Medjugorje made alongside his close circle of friends. These journeys deepened his faith and created lasting memories and friendships.
David loved cross-country skiing, riding his bike, and taking long walks around Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield.
He was the loving father of David Emmons Jr and his wife Manal Khan of Winthrop, Diana Emmons of Stoneham, and Deborah McCabe and her husband Michael of Winthrop. He was the beloved grandfather of Zain, Sufyan, and Colin. David is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday August 3 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Tuesday August 4 at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
