Dorothy "Dottie" Chanley

Dorothy “Dottie” Chanley (Mueller), age 91, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, at Kaplan Hospice House.

Born on October 19, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the beloved daughter of Frank and Anna (Korbelik) Mueller.

Dottie met her husband, Richard Chanley, while he was stationed in Chicago serving in the Air Force. After they were married, they moved to Everett, and in 1966, they settled in Wakefield to raise their five children

Dottie was predeceased by Richard; her daughter, Donna Hebert; her sister, Alma Hoops; and her brother, Frank Mueller. She is survived by her brother, Donald Mueller.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Robert Chanley and his wife Heather, Paul Chanley and his wife Susan, John Chanley and his wife Dayna, and Diane Lee and her husband Daniel.

Dottie was a proud and devoted “Nona” to her grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to her great-grandchildren.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—scratch tickets, chocolate, bowling, trips to the casino and watching the Red Sox—but she will be remembered for her love of family and her cooking skills that shined during the holiday seasons with cookies and traditional Italian foods that brought family together year after year.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her Funeral Service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday April 18, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home Friday April 17, 2026 from 4:00-7:00. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
