Edna F. Mullen – 102 years old, resident of Wenham, MA formerly of Chelsea and Peabody, MA died December 22, 2025 at Lahey Hospital, Burlington, MA. Edna was born and raised in Chelsea and was the daughter of the late Nicholas A. Lacy and Catherine (Dolan) Lacy. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas F. Mullen of Peabody, MA and his son, Thomas R. Mullen of East Andover, NH and by her son Neal Gagnon of Murfreesboro, Arkansas and by her sister Ruth E. Lacy of Chelsea, MA and her brother, Robert N. Lacy of Malden, MA. She was also predeceased by her niece, Marie E. Matthews and her husband, Hugh Matthews of Medford, MA.
She is survived by her niece, Maureen E. Houghton and her husband Charles F. Houghton of Stoneham, MA and their children, Kellie Anne Grogan and her husband Robert E. Cortes of Sharon, MA and Patrick F. Houghton of Reading, MA. She is also survived by her grand-niece, Renee M. Meuse and her husband, Andrew P. Meuse and their children, Jacqueline Meuse and Charlotte Meuse of Medford, MA She is also survived by her step-daughter, Barbara A. Smith and her husband Robert Smith of Virginia and their children, Robert Smith and his wife Amanda Smith of Danvers, MA; Douglas Smith and his wife Maureen Smith of Ipswich; and Jennifer Cryts and her husband Kevin Cryts of Virginia. She is also survived by her step-granddaughter, Donna McGrath and her husband Stephen McGrath and their children of Saugus, MA and by Thomas R. Mullen, Jr. and his wife Joan Smith and their children of Wakefield, NH. She is also survived by her cousin, Mary Lee McKay and her family of Scituate, MA. She was great friends and neighbors with the late Noel and Elizabeth Foster and is survived by their children, Paula Foster, Susan Foster, and Gail Cullen and her husband, John Cullen of Stoneham, MA. She is survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren from all of these families and friends.
She was an administrative assistant in her early years at Monsanto where she met her husband, Tom, and most recently at the Lynnfield School System where she worked for the Superintendent of Schools. She served on the Board of Trustees of The Maples Cooperative as President and various capacities as well as on the social and welcome committees.
Friends and relatives may visit at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue, Wakefield, MA on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 9-11 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at St. Adelaide Church, 712 Lowell Street, Peabody, MA at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody, MA.
