Edward Hamel

Edward G. Hamel, 69, of Des Moines, IA, formerly of Wakefield, died on Friday, August 6 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.

Born in Winchester on September 19, 1940 he was the son of the late George J. and Helen S. (Landry) Hamel.

Mr. Hamel was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1960. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Hamel had worked at the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard on nuclear submarines. He was a former member of the West Side Social Club.

Mr. Hamel was the father of Edward G. Hamel, Jr. He was the brother of Jean Dulong of Lyman, ME and grandfather of Zachary & Alexis. He was the uncle of Erin & Courtney Grant & Brian Dulong.

A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Monday, August 30 at 10 a.m. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.

Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
