E. Bruce MacPherson, age 94 of Lynnfield, passed away on Sunday February 1 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
He was born in Lynn on February 4, 1932 and was the son of the late Allen and Helen (Hughes) MacPherson.
Edwin B. was a Lynn English High School graduate, and served his country joining the US Navy, serving as Engineer aboard the USS Aggressive. After his time in the Navy he worked for New England Telephone as a lineman, installer, and as a Mechanical Engineer.
He met the love of his life, Terry Burns, whom he shared sixty-six years of marriage. They spent summer vacation times between their home in Lynnfield and North Conway, and upon retirement spent their winters in Naples, Florida, much of it along with their Pug, “Max”.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, and patriarch to the family. A quiet, authoritative presence to family and friends alike. He was an avid reader with many interests, especially in mechanics and engineering, and also ready with a kind word and a shared laugh. He delighted in time spent with his family and their dogs through the years.
He was the beloved husband of Terese “Terry” (Burns) MacPherson. He was the loving father of Tracy Jandreau and her husband John of Portland, ME, Elizabeth “Betsy” MacPherson and Michael Branen of Nashua, NH, Glenn MacPherson and his wife Annemarie of Lynnfield, and the late Andrew MacPherson. He was the loving grandfather to Robert Rousseau and his wife Terie Lea, Kate Green and her husband Joseph, Amanda Rousseau and her husband Kevin Murphy, and Christopher Rousseau, loving Grandfather to Anna, Jacob, and Alyssa MacPherson. He was Great Grandfather to Atlas Green, and Finlay, Molly, Silas, and Jackson Rousseau.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 17 Grove St., Lynnfield, on Thursday, February 5 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the church prior to the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
Services are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield.
