Eleanor K. Sentementes

Eleanor K. “Ellie” Sentementes, age 92, of Winchester, formerly a 60-year resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2023 at her residence at The Gables at Winchester.

Born in Boston on March 22, 1931 she was the daughter of the late James J. and Sophia (Papaconstantinou) Karadimos.

Ellie was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School. She then went on to receive her BA from Boston University. Primarily a homemaker, Ellie was also an art and music kindergarten teacher. She enjoyed art throughout her life – painting her trademark watercolors until her final days. She was also a member of both the Wakefield and Reading Art Clubs and the Wakefield Garden Club. Ellie was a wonderful cook, an avid reader and piano player. She enjoyed swimming and summering with her family and cherished husband Tom at their home in Camp Ellis, Maine.

Upon moving to The Gables at Winchester, Ellie flourished – she simply loved living there with her new friends and was an active participant in the community.  At the Gables she continued her painting and was also a competitive cornhole player until her final days. Above all things, Ellie loved her family and her friends, most especially her grandchildren, for which her world turned.

She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Sentementes for 59 happy years. She was the loving mother of Chris Sentementes and his wife Becky of Yarmouth, ME, Jim Sentementes and his wife Cindy of Satellite Beach, FL, Ann Corcoran and her husband Dan of Boston, and Elaine Sentementes of Saco, ME. She was the cherished and devoted “Nana” to Amy, Zach and Shannon, Daniel and Tati, Thomas, and the late Callie. She was the sister of the late Mary West, Charles Karadimos, and Nicholas Karadimos and adored her nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Service will be held in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave., Woburn on Monday, April 24 at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

A private interment will take place at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield at a later date.
