Hector E. French, 93, of Tewksbury, formerly of Melrose and Wakefield died on Friday, January 6 at the Emeritus at Tewksbury.
Born in Carlisle on October 9, 1918 he was the son of the late Edmund L. and Mary (MacDonald) French.
Hector was a graduate of Concord High School, Class of 1937 and Northeastern University, 1941. He had worked in the Engineering Field.
Hector had been a Wakefield resident from the early 1950s to 1998 and was a former member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was the husband of the late Jean (Davis) French and the father of Judith Troughton and her husband David of Chelmsford, Susan Rizza and her husband Charles of Winterport, ME, Deborah Cyr and her husband James of Portland, ME, and Nancy French of Littleton. He was the grandfather of Jeffrey, Gregory, Joseph, and Cynthia and the great grandfather of Cameron, Stephen, and Lyla. Hector was predeceased by his brother, Lewis French.
A funeral service will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Care Alternative Hospice, 181 Cedar Hill St., Marlborough, MA 01752. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
