Helen B. Zavarise, 84, a life-long Wakefield resident, passed away at her home on Monday, February 16.
Born in Wakefield on August 23, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Florindo and Rose (Lepore) Colucello.
Helen was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1942. She worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston and had also worked for the Shawmut Bank in Wakefield. Helen enjoyed candle pin bowling with her friends at the Wakefield Bowladrome for many years.
Helen was the loving wife of the late Louis Zavarise. She is survived by her beloved daughter Judy Powell of Feeding Hills and her loving grandson Jim Powell. Helen was the sister of Mary Lembo of Somerville and the late Joseph Colucello. She was the sister-in-law of Ida Kershaw of Newburyport, Dianne Barnhill and her husband Keith of Salisbury and the late Philip Lembo and Robert Kershaw. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Helen is also survived by "Tony", a dear friend of the family.
Relatives and friends may call at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield, on Friday Feb. 20 from 8:30 – 10:30 AM. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St. Wakefield at 11:00 AM.
