Hope I. Nutter

LYNNFIELD - Hope I. Nutter, age 86, formerly of Lynnfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22 at her residence in North Andover.

Born June 18, 1939 in Waltham, she was the daughter of the late Francis B. and Alice M. (Gallagher) Carleton.

Hope was a graduate of Matignon High School, where she later entered the Athletic Hall of Fame for her outstanding achievements in girls’ basketball. She was also a graduate of Forsyth Dental School and practiced as a dental hygienist one day a week for 50 years. Hope was a longstanding and active member of St. Maria Goretti Church in Lynnfield where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.

Hope raised her four daughters in Lynnfield, where she loved to plant flowers and create a country garden. She enjoyed collecting and selling antiques. Hope found joy in sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Her happiest and most fulfilling moments were when she was surrounded by her family.

Hope was the beloved wife of Ronald G. Nutter of Lynnfield. Loving mother of Lisa M. Brennan and her husband Sean, of Merrimac; Kristen S. Singer and her husband David of Lynnfield; Hope M. Morin and her husband Michael of Charlotte, North Carolina. She was predeceased by her youngest and cherished daughter, Kerry A. Nutter.

She was the sister of the late David F. Carleton, of Ipswich; devoted sister of Eileen C. Kelly and her late husband, James “Jim” of Medford.

She was the adoring grandmother of Michael E. Brennan and his wife Alexa, of Boxford, Sean P. Brennan and his wife Greta, of Candia, New Hampshire, and Jaclyn K. Brennan, of Newburyport; Corinne A. Singer, of Enfield, New Hampshire and John F. Singer, of Lynnfield; Amanda J. Morin, Caroline G. Morin, and Victoria H. Morin, all of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by two precious great grandchildren, Luke Brennan and Oxley Brennan.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut Street, Lynnfield on Tuesday, December 30 at 10:30am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday from 3-6pm. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield.
