Jacqueline J. Carey, age 92, of Wakefield passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025.

She was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on October 6, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Earl and Carmella (Ross-Diaco) Overstreet. 

After her marriage to Thomas P. Carey of Wakefield in 1950 at St Joseph Church they lived in Wakefield where her husband Thomas (Tom) worked for the Town of Wakefield. Jackie worked at; Diamond Shoe, L.B. Evans, Revere Knitting Mills in Wakefield, and the Arnold House Nursing home in Stoneham. After her husband Thomas died in 1973 Jackie was left to raise her family of seven children on her own for the next 16 years. Later she spent years taking care of ailing family members. She was a strong woman attested to by her many years.

In her later years Jackie a resident of Harts Hill, for many years, was loved by many of its residents. She was content to stay at home on her porch and loved having visits from her friends and family. She loved bingo, lottery scratch cards, crafting and painting. She also enjoyed sewing, puzzle, and the Red Sox. In the kitchen she made the best Buckeyes and fudge. In all of this she still found time to travel to Europe, take cruises and travel to the many places her children were residing.

She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas P. Carey of Wakefield. She was the loving mother of Patricia Ann Carey (the late), Thomas P. Carey Jr. (the late), Stephen F. Carey (the late) and his wife Mary of Wakefield, Barbara J. Reimers and her husband Hugh (US Army Retired) of Minnesota, Cynthia Jeeter (the late), John P. Carey (Master Chief US Navy Retired) of Kansas, Michael D. Carey and his wife Tracy of Kentucky, and James F. Carey and his wife Milagros of Peabody. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of James Overstreet of South Carolina, Margaret Patriacca of Texas, Nancy Burbine of Medford, and the late David Overstreet and Hattie Davis.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 18th at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield at 11:00 am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 am.

Jackie’s family wants to extend heartfelt gratitude to physicians, nurses, and staff of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
