James Doherty

James E . Doherty , 86, of Sun City Center, FL, formerly of Wakefield, died on Saturday, February 28 at the Life Path Hospice in Sun City Center, FL.

Born in Boston on April 10, 1922 he was the son of the late Patrick and Annie (Meehan) Doherty .

Mr. Doherty was a graduate of Roxbury High School and LaSalle College.
He was a retired Salesman for Lawrence Packaging Co. after 46 years. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946.

Mr. Doherty was an avid golfer and a member of Meadow Brook County Club in Reading. He was also a member of the Woburn YMCA.

Mr. Doherty was the husband of Jeanne (Johnson) Doherty . Father of Barbara Giordani and her husband Jack and Kevin Doherty and his wife Donna, all of Reading, Michael Doherty and his wife Lisa of Boxford, Dianne Johnson and her husband Steven of Merrimack, NH and the late Brian Doherty . He is also survived by Linda Doherty and his 11 grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 8:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 9:00 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 2:00 p.m.
