James Hafferty

James Hafferty, 78, of Wakefield formerly of Stoneham, died on Saturday, August 21 at his residence.

Born in Everett on September 4, 1942, he was the son of the late Albert and Edith (Chilvers) Hefferty.

Mr. Hafferty was raised in Stoneham and was a graduate of Stoneham High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1966. Mr. Hafferty had been a Wakefield residence for 54 years and was the retired owner of A Touch of Elegance Limousine Service in Wakefield.

He was the husband of the late Judith L. (Burns) Hafferty. Mr. Hafferty is survived by his three children: Eric A. Davis and his wife Deborah of Woburn, Kristen A. Hafferty of Salem, and Michael P. Hafferty and his wife Cheryl of Tewksbury, his five grandchildren: Eric, Jr., Andrew, Katherine, Courtney and Shelby, his great grandson Hayes, his brother Jack Hafferty of Easton, his sister Mary DeRosa of Malden. He was predeceased by his sister Ann Propst.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday from 4-7pm. Funeral services will be private.
