James W. Lamb, age 94, a lifelong resident of Stoneham, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester.
Born in Stoneham on June 20, 1931, he was the cherished son of the late James H. and Annie Lamb. James dedicated his life to serving his community and his country as a proud member of the American Legion, Post 115. A veteran of the Korean War, he exemplified his commitment by participating in the Fourth of July Parade, where he carried the American flag with honor. He also took part in a heartfelt tradition on Veteran’s Day, visiting local cemeteries to place flags on the graves of his fellow veterans, reflecting his deep respect and gratitude for their service.
Beyond his military dedication, James was passionate about fishing, hunting, and enjoying coffee, as well as visiting casinos. He spent many years as a self-employed carpenter, a profession he approached with great dedication.
He was the loving father of Christine Christopher and her late husband Michael of Wakefield, NH, Deborah Rhoades and her husband Keith of Wakefield, MA, Karen Lamb and her late husband Bob Rogers of South Grafton, MA, and the late Carol Wright and her late husband Roy. He was the brother of Shirley Ingersoll and was predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters. He was the grandfather of Troy, Shayne, Cheyenne, Dana, Katie, Mikaela, Aaron, and the late Shannon. He also had 15 great grandchildren and was predeceased by one great grandson.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan-Anderson Funeral Home, 322 Main Street, Stoneham on Tuesday, December 2 from 4-7pm. A Graveside Service will take place at Lindenwood Cemetery, Montvale Ave., Stoneham on Wednesday, December 3 at 11am.
To honor James, charitable contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in his name to the Veterans organization of your choice.
