Janet C . DiNanno , age 82, a longtime Wakefield resident, died Tuesday, November 22 at her residence, in the same way she lived her life, surrounded by love from many friends and family after a 9 year courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Born in Boston on July 10, 1940 she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Frances (Juliano) Sabbagh.
Janet was raised in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1959. She had formerly been employed as the secretary to the Director of the Department of Welfare in Everett. In 1961 she married the love of her life, Luco DiNanno and moved to Wakefield. She and her husband lovingly raised their three children, with selfless devotion to their special daughter Lynda. Janet had a strong faith and was a parishioner of St. Florence Church. She was also a member of the Sons of Italy of Wakefield. Janet was also an excellent cook with the ability to improvise and create a delicious meal with whatever was available without a recipe. She was interested in health and nutrition for herself and others. She loved walking, and she and her husband were often seen walking around town and supporting the local businesses and coffee shops. Janet was an avid gardener and spent hours tending to her flowers.
Janet loved people and saw an opportunity for striking up a conversation with anyone she met. She always treated others with the same warmth and compassion regardless of circumstance. She was beautiful inside and out and was a woman known for her generosity and kind nature.
The family would like to extend gratitude and appreciation to the wonderful staff at Tufts Gynecological and Oncology Team, specifically Dr. Young Kim, Grace daCunha RNP, Jenn Dagesse RN and the late Dr. John "Jack" Erban.
