Janet Marie (Pietrafitta) Lapery, age 83, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Born on October 20,1943, Janet lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to her family, her career, and her many passions.
Janet was the beloved wife of Anthony Lapery and devoted mother to her sons James and Gregory (wife, Katie) and her late and beautiful daughter Amy. Janet was also a cherished grandmother to Christopher (wife, Noelle), Sara, Meghan, and Anna. Janet was also a sister to Mary Rita Daly and sister-in-law to John Daly; as well as an auntie to their children Karen, Kevin, Maria, Colleen and Philip. She was predeceased by her parents, Sara and James Pietrafitta as well as her dear friend Janice McKay. Janet also leaves behind her close friends Paul and Evie Lever as well as many loving cousins and relatives.
For over four decades, Janet worked as an office manager for Dr. Saul Cohen. She was a welcoming face to all the parents and children at the pediatric office. Her commitment to excellence and professionalism left a lasting impression on those she worked with throughout her career.
Outside of work, Janet found joy in a variety of hobbies that reflected her creative spirit and love for beauty. She had a passion for gardening, antiquing, cooking, shopping, decorating, traveling and watching the Red Sox. Most of these hobbies were enjoyed with her family and her close friend Evie by her side. These pursuits brought her happiness and enriched the lives of those around her.
Janet’s memory will be treasured by all who knew her. May her legacy of love and warmth continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion Street, Wakefield, MA, Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM followed by her burial at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
