Jean M. McCluskey, age 99, passed away on February 22, 2026 at the Lahey Clinic and Medical Center in Burlington surrounded by her family.
She was born in Medford on September 17, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Marion (Mooney) Rowe.
She was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Girls Catholic High School and a graduate of Chandler Secretarial School. She had worked for J.N.Phillips Glass as well as North Suburban Ear, Nose, and Throat. Jean was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Joseph Church where she had also been a Eucharistic Minister. Her involvement in church life also included her membership of the Perfector Sodality.
Jean married the love of her life, Lawrence McCluskey in 1951 and the two briefly lived in Melrose before settling in Wakefield to raise their family. She loved to travel and enjoyed camping and the outdoors with her husband, family and friends. She and Larry were active in local groups in Wakefield, including theater, both as participants and supporters. Jean was also known to be a wonderful baker and in her younger years baked many wedding cakes for family and friends. Above all she loved her family and being able to enjoy her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence J. McCluskey. She was the loving mother of Karen J. Callan and her husband Robert of Reading, Larry W. McCluskey and his wife Heidi of Upton, Kathy A. Schuler and her husband Frank of St. Helena, SC, Susan M. Mitchell and her husband Mark of Billerica, Marianne Felter and her husband Timothy of Newburyport, Kevin C. McCluskey and his wife Pam of Westford, and the late Kenneth J. McCluskey. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother William Rowe.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday, February 27 from 4-7PM. Her Funeral will be held in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Saturday, February 28 at 10AM. Interment to follow at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
