Jerome B. Malerich, 95 a longtime resident of Lynnfield died Sunday December 7, at the Beverly Hospital.
Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota April 27, 1930, he was the son of the late Jerome B. and Hazel M. (Kundert) Malerich.
Jerome was raised in Minneapolis, MN where he was a graduate of St. Thomas Military Academy High School Class of 1948. He went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota, receiving both his Undergraduate and Master’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering in 1953.
Jerome was the beloved husband of the late Arline (Hanson) Malerich. He was the father of Jerome Malerich and his wife Betty of York, PA and the late Christopher Malerich of Somerville, MA. He is also survived by grandchildren Daniel Malerich of Raleigh, NC, Lauren (along with her husband Stephen Cote and their three children) of Chichester, NH, and Joshua (and his wife Madeline Malerich and their three children) of Lebanon, PA. Also to be mentioned is his nephew John (and wife Patty) Armstrong of Danvers, MA, who assisted in his loving care. He is preceded in death by his sister Elsbeth (husband George Rice) of Silver Springs, MD and sister Mary (husband Byron Snow) of Wayzata, MN.
Jerome spent 42 years at the Aircraft Engines Division of the General Electric Company in Engineering and General Management. He is the author of two patents related to process metals applications to aircraft engines. His assignments included time in Detroit, MI, Evandale, OH, Schenectady, NY, Everett, MA and Lynn, MA where he met his beautiful bride, Arline. They were married for 65 years before her passing in 2022.
Jerome was a lifetime member of the American Society of Metals, Lynnfield Council of the Knights of Columbus, teacher of CCD at both Our Lady of Assumption and St Maria Goretti Churches, and a life-long practicing Catholic.
In addition to his devotion to his wife, he was a very-involved father to both Jerome and Chris, with countless memories of sports, musical concerts (he loved the Symphony and Jazz), house projects, and a strong example of discipline and hard work. In retirement, he greatly enjoyed golfing with his Lynnfield friends and fellow retirees.
A private graveside service was held at Forest Hill Cemetery on December 12, 2025.
