Joan M. Grady

Joan M. (Lawlor) Grady, 89, of Westwood, MA, formerly of Northwood, NH, and Lynnfield, MA, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 2.

Joan was born in Brighton, MA, on June 18, 1936, to the late John and Anastatia (Kelly) Lawlor. She was raised in Brighton and Westwood and was the second oldest of seven children: Anne Dinapoli, Jack Lawlor, Harry Lawlor (deceased), Agnes Farrell, Paul Lawlor, and Mary Lou McCarthy (deceased).

Joan earned her BS Degree in Education from Framingham State University and completed her Dietetic Internship at the University of Michigan.

She and her late husband, Ray, were longtime residents of Lynnfield, where they raised their two daughters, Theresa and Patricia. After retiring to Bow Lake in Northwood, NH, in 2003, Joan later became a resident at Bridges by EPOCH in Westwood, MA, in 2016.

Though Joan enjoyed her career as a dietitian and devoted much of her time to volunteering at her church, she will be most remembered as an exceptional wife, mother and grandmother who worked tirelessly for those she loved.

Joan was the beloved wife of the late Ray Grady, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. She is survived by her two daughters, Theresa Grady of West Roxbury, MA, and Patricia Sisk of West Hartford, CT, as well as her three loving grandchildren: Tyler, Meghan, and Caroline Sisk.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Friday, November 7, at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, MA from 9:30-11:30 A.M followed by her Funeral Mass which will be celebrated on Friday, November 7 at 12:00 PM, at St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield, MA. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Salem, MA.

In celebration of Joan’s philanthropic spirit, donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
