Joel E. Rogers, 59, of Wakefield, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, following a sudden illness.
Born in Brookline, Massachusetts on January 16, 1967, Joel was the son of the late Edward and Lillian (Deveau) Rogers.
He is survived by his wife Deborah (Handrich) Rogers, his son Benjamin Rogers, and his daughter Sabrina Rogers. He was the son-in-law of Darius and Carol Handrich. Joel was the brother of Sandra Rogers of Maine, Ed Rogers of Massachusetts, and Eric Rogers of Maryland. He was also the close friends of Keith, Heather, & Madeleine Gaillard of Georgetown and Ken and Danielle LeBlanc of Salem.
Joel enjoyed cooking for friends and family, specifically growing hot peppers to make hot pepper jelly. Aside from making superior jelly, he prided himself on being a bourbon connoisseur. He also enjoyed deep sea fishing and working on high-power rocketry.
Traveling with his family throughout the East Coast was one of his many joys in life, but the annual road trip to Walt Disney World in Florida was his favorite. You could always find him listening to hard rock, specifically the band KISS. Joel always looked forward to watching the Three Stooges New Years Eve marathon (possibly the only viewer), the latest Marvel installment, and the classic thriller “Jaws”.
Halloween was his niche with how he created different skeletal yard figures to spook the neighborhood. Joel will be remembered for his sarcastic wit and humorous banter with friends and family alike, regardless of height.
Joel’s Funeral Service will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday August 14 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m.
