John J. Anderson, Andy, age 80 of Middleton, formally of Wakefield, passed away on Tuesday May 5 at his residence.
He was born in Winchester on November 22, 1945 and was the son of the late Herbert and Mary (McInnis) Anderson.
John dedicated much of his life to hard work and craftsmanship. He began his career in the Boston Navy shipyard from 1966-1974, where he developed the strong work ethic that would define his life. He later continued his career as a licensed electrician at the Bedford Veterans Affair Hospital from 1976 until his retirement in 2003. In 1980, John earned his electrical license, a milestone that reflected both his skill and dedication to his trade.
John graduated from Wakefield Memorial High School in 1964. He then went on to attend Wentworth Institute, further strengthening his technical expertise. He was a member of the FOLQ from the early 90’s until 2019, where he built lasting friendships and contributed his time and energy to cleaning up the shores of Lake Quannapowitt. In 2006, he enjoyed a memorable appearance on the Antique Roadshow with his weathervane, an experience he fondly shared with family and friends.
John will be remembered not only for his strong work ethic, but his vibrant personality. He loved to tell jokes and had a playful spirit, even riding a unicycle, something that brought smiles and laughter to those around him. He had a passion for antique cars and loved 4th of July. His sense of humor and lighthearted nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Tina (Amendola) Anderson. He was the loving father of Emma Anderson, and Stepfather to Steven Dong, Kris Dong and his wife Amanda and proud grandpa to Emersyn. John was the brother of Esther White, and predeceased by his brothers Richard Anderson, Herbert Anderson Jr., Charles Anderson, Robert Anderson, and his sister Mary Phillips.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday May 11 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Tuesday May 12 at 10:00 a.m. Interment, St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham.
