John A. Loud

John A. Loud, 79, of Wakefield, passed away on Sunday, August 2, after a valiant battle against lung cancer.

John was born in Winchester and lived his entire life in Wakefield. He was the son of the late Lewis E. Loud and Mary E. (LeFave) Loud.

John is survived by his siblings: Lewis Loud and his companion, Marie Bonnett, of Belmont, NH; Paul Loud and his wife, Diane, of Saugus, MA; Teresa Schieding and her husband, John, of Bristol, CT; and Liz Coyle and her husband, John, of Attleboro, MA. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great‑nieces, and great‑nephews. The family is especially grateful for the loving support of his niece Michelle and her husband, Chris Goodspeed, of Merrimack, NH, during his final years.

He was predeceased by his sister‑in‑law, Kitty (Sullivan) Loud, and his beloved niece, Danielle Loud‑Galvin.

John worked in his early years at the Wakefield Daily Item. He was a longtime usher and communicant at St. Joseph’s Church in Wakefield. He was the loving and devoted caregiver to his mother, Mary “Beth” Loud, until her passing at age 99 in February 2020.

John cherished the natural beauty surrounding his home near Crystal Lake. He enjoyed daily walks in the nearby woods and took great pleasure in feeding the birds, rabbits, and other wildlife that visited his yard. He also deeply valued the friendship of his neighbors, whose companionship enriched his days and brought him great comfort.

John was known for his holiday traditions, especially the large, custom gingerbread‑men cookies he baked for his nieces and nephews each Christmas, and for making what many considered the best zucchini bread ever.

John will be remembered for his quiet kindness, his devotion to family, and the gentle, steady presence he brought to all who knew him.

His Funeral Service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday, August 8 at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:30am. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
