John Rodgers, Jr.

John E . Rodgers Jr ., age 76 of Milton, NH, formerly of Everett, Billerica, and Medford, died on Monday August 8 at the Royal Meadow View Nursing Home in North Reading.

He was born in Cambridge on August 10, 1945, and was the son of the late John and Ruth (Hill) Rodgers and brother of the late Dorothy Rodgers .

John graduated from Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School in 1963. He bravely served in the US Army from 1965-1967 in Vietnam as a helicopter flight engineer. He was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. He worked at Riverside Press and then onto his life's career at New England Telephone (now Verizon) from 1969 to 1996. While working, he obtained a Bachelor's degree from Boston State College in 1982.

John was a gregarious person and loved to meet people. He loved vacationing, summering, and eventually retiring to Milton Three Ponds in NH. He filled his life with activities such as boating, playing cards, watching movies, and traveling to Aruba.

John was the beloved husband of the late Patricia Rodgers . He was the loving father of Michael Rodgers and his significant other Gunjan Shah of Lowell and Matthew Rodgers and his wife Lucy Kats of Latham, NY. He is also survived by his granddaughters Isabel and Tessa Kats-Rodgers.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday August 13 from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. followed by a Graveside Service at Forest Glade Cemetery, Lowell St., Wakefield.
