Joseph Caruso

Joseph Caruso, age 83, of Lynnfield died on Monday, October 5 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.

Joseph was born in Everett on December 2, 1936 and was the son of the late Albert and Carmela (DiVito) Caruso.

Joseph was raised in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School. Following his high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After his military duty he earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Boston College in 1963 and later earned his Master of Science in Physics from Northeastern University. He had worked as a Senior Communications System Engineer for Mitre, Raytheon and for ASEC for over 30 years.

He was an avid reader, learned to speak Italian, and loved spending time with his family. He was especially close with his two grandchildren and derived much pleasure and pride in watching them grow up. He was always there for them, listening to their stories, and sharing his wisdom, perspective and humor. Joe was loved and respected by all who knew him.

Survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Nancy (Sedlewicz) Caruso, he was the loving father of Dr. Christian D. Caruso of Hollis, NH. and Andrea L. Morgan and her husband Tom of Berlin, Germany. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Caruso of Malden and his cherished grandchildren, Olivia and Dylan Morgan.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut St, Lynnfield on Saturday, Oct 17 at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday Oct 16 from 4-7pm.

COVID-19 Guidelines will be in effect. Guests are kindly asked to arrive wearing a mask and to exit the building after greeting the family to allow all visitors an opportunity to pay their respects.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
