Joseph A. “Ted” DiNanno, age 94, of Lynnfield, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025 in Boca Raton, Florida. Born in Malden, Massachusetts to Rocco and Elizabeth DiNanno, Ted graduated from Malden Catholic High School before attending Wentworth Institute of Technology then serving in the United States Navy. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret DiNanno (Peg), his sons, Joseph DiNanno and his wife Eileen, Thomas DiNanno and his wife Darlyne and his daughter, Kathryn Barbieri and her husband Frank as well as his grandchildren, Teresa, Sophia and Joseph DiNanno; Lexi DiNanno, and Anna, Nicholas and Bridget Barbieri as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Papa, Doris Dowling and Barbara Ciccarello.
Ted was President of Rocco DiNanno and Sons, the general contracting and real estate business started by his father in 1928. Ted spent over 70 years in business, only recently retiring. Well known in the local business community, Ted served as a Director, CEO and Chairman of the Board of the Glendale Cooperative Bank in Everett Massachusetts where he took the Bank public.
Ted was an avid golfer and a member of Salem Country Club and Pine Tree Country Club. Ted was a dedicated family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father and a proud “Papa” of seven grandchildren.
His funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield, on Thursday May 8, at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday May 7, from 4-7 p.m. Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
