Joseph N. Dulong

Joseph Dulong, of Bourne, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose authentic spirit, kindness, and fantastic sense of humor will be deeply missed. 

Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, on March 19, 1954, Joseph was the beloved son of the late Nelson and Marjorie (Sandberg) Dulong. He graduated from Northeastern University in 1979 with a degree in education. A few years ago, he taught at Saint Catherine of Siena in Norwood, joining his wife, Rosanne, who had devoted more than 25 years of her career to the school. In his first year at the school, Joseph was nominated for the town’s Teacher of the Year award. 

Joseph had an extraordinary work ethic and worked tirelessly to support his family. His dedication was an expression of his love, and he took pride in providing for those he cherished. A lifelong learner, he brought curiosity and commitment to his pursuits and was always generous with his time and energy. 

Joseph found joy in cooking, baking, dancing, gardening, and crafting thoughtful creations for friends and family. Among his most treasured moments were those spent cooking and baking with his grandsons, who lovingly knew him as “Bup.” His humor, warmth, and love made those everyday moments special. 

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Rosanne, whom he married on November 21, 1980. He was the devoted father of Jennifer and her husband, Matthew; Kaitlyn; Mary; and John, and the adoring grandfather of Henry, Winston, Evan, and Conrad. He also leaves his sister, Cheryl; his nieces, Lisa, Kimberly, and Lynne; his grandniece, Phoenix; and his grandnephew, Cyrus. Joseph will be lovingly remembered for being wholly himself, for making others laugh, and for the kindness he offered so freely. His memory will live on in the family he cherished and in the many lives he touched.

His funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday October 2 at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield, at 11:30am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday, October 1 from 4-7pm. Interment will be private.
