Judith M. "Judy" Hickey

Judith “Judy” (Marshall) Hickey of North Reading, Massachusetts, passed away on June 18, 2026. Judy was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who made life brighter for those around her.

Raised in Stoneham, Judy was the daughter of the late Rosemary (McColgan) and George Marshall. She was the “Perfect 10” of 13 siblings and graduated Stoneham High School in 1978. After graduating, Judy worked for the Boston Gas Company.

Judy marched in the St. Pat’s Drill Team Color Guard in Stoneham before becoming a Boston Crusader in 1978. She was a lifelong fan of the Drum Corps and loved being part of the BAC community.

As someone who always enjoyed a good time, Judy filled every room with her signature laugh and enthusiastic, if sightly off-tune, singing. She defied all odds after surviving a serious car accident in 1995, going on to learn horseback riding, working part time, and becoming a beloved resident at the McLaughlin House. Most importantly, Judy never lost her spark, continuing to entertain all of those around her with her sense of humor and willingness to pay a compliment (or three).

Judy is survived by her daughter Janelle, son-in-law Andrew, siblings Ruth Daly, Tom Marshall (Sandra), Danny Marshall, Rosie Marshall, Larry Marshall, Billy Marshall (Theresa), Kevin Marshall (Shelly), Susan McPeak (Joseph), and Elaine Lawrence (John), as well as brother-in-law Ken Stine and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and sisters Kathy Rizzuto, Patty Stine, and Rita Marshall. Judy also leaves behind many residents and caretakers from the McLaughlin House who became a second family during the 24 years she lived at the home. Judy’s absence will be felt by all of those lucky enough to know her, with future gatherings of family and friends missing the particular sparkle she would bring.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan-Anderson Funeral Home in Stoneham, MA on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 beginning at 10 a.m. with a funeral services beginning at 12 p.m. In honor of Judy, attendees are encouraged to wear bright, joyful colors (bonus points for incorporating costume jewelry).
