Kathleen T. “Kay” Walsh, age 84, a lifelong Wakefield resident, passed away at the Bear Hill Nursing Home in Wakefield on Friday, August 29 surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 12, 1941 and was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Margaret (Reardon) Mahoney. Kay was a graduate of Wakefield High School. She had been a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Church of Wakefield and had also been an active educator in their CCD program. Until her retirement, Kay had worked many years for Utica Insurance. She loved walking Lake Quannapowitt, going to the beach, and taking trips to Disney World – her most favorite vacation destination.

Kay was the beloved and adored wife of Francis Walsh, Jr. She was the loving mother of Sean Walsh and his wife Kathy Ledoux-Walsh of Wakefield, Kevin Walsh of Wakefield, and Barry Walsh of North Carolina. She was the adoring and cherished grandmother of Mikayla Ledoux-Walsh and her fiancé Justin Lewis, James Walsh, and the late Kelly Ledoux-Walsh. She was the dear sister of Ruth Mahoney of Wakefield, Anne Jarvis of Florida, Rita Connell of Falmouth, Mary Mahoney of Wakefield, and the late John, Robert, Joseph, and Francis Mahoney. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Kathleen Portman of Melrose, as well as many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Honoring Kay’s wishes, a private Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Wakefield on September 2. Interment took place at Saint Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham. Arrangements were in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
