Kevin James Wynne

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin James Wynne on January 20th, 2026 at the age of 84.

Kevin was born on October 25th, 1941, to parents James and Catherine Wynne in Cambridge, MA. Raised in Saint Anne’s Parish in Dorchester, MA, with his older sister Anne, Kevin made friends wherever he went and developed a love for helping others that later led to his career as a fireman.

Kevin met his soulmate, best friend and wife, Helen Wynne, at the age of 19 and built a beautiful life together that lasted over 63 years. Together they had two children, Christine (Gross) Wynne and Brian Wynne.

Kevin served as a firefighter for the town of Stoneham for 37 years and took great pride in his work of helping others. He made countless friendships throughout his career and helped the lives of many. Later, he took on the role of full-time grandfather and great grandfather which was his favorite job of all.

Family was everything to Kevin and you could always count on him to be your biggest supporter. Nothing made him happier than attending one of the many sports games his grandchildren played in, decked out in a sweatshirt or hat with their name and number, letting everyone know that he was their papa. He was so proud and never failed to show it.

Faith was a big part of Kevin’s life and you could find him at the 7:00am Mass at St Joe’s in Wakefield, MA every single day. There, he built a community that has lasted many years and many coffee dates. His presence there will truly be missed.

Kevin is preceded in joining the Lord by his beloved wife, Helen Wynne; his father and mother, James and Catherine Wynne; his sister, Anne Pearce (Wynne); and brother-in-law, Lawrence Johnson.

Kevin is survived by his daughter Christine (Gross) Wynne; son Brian Wynne and his partner Bee; son-in-law Steven Gross; granddaughters Briana Gross, Catherine (Cole) Gross and Louisa Gross; grandson Andrew Gross; great grandchildren Millicent, Lottie and Witt Cole; and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kevin led with strength, confidence and a kindness that touched the lives of so many. He built friendships with everyone he met that left a lasting impact and will never be forgotten. He will be forever loved and missed.
