Leonard Humber

Leonard William Humber , age 75 of Stoneham passed away peacefully in the morning of Friday May 6 surrounded by his loving family after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer.

"Lennie" as he was known to everyone was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on January 30, 1947 and was the son of the late Dorothy and William Humber .

He grew up in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1965. After high school he worked at West Lynn Creamery, Richdale Dairy and Scangas Realty for the next 53 years until his retirement last December.

Lennie met his beloved wife Karen (Zurek) in 1968 set up by their longtime friend Buddy Kearney. They were married in 1970 at St. Patrick's Church in Stoneham and made Stoneham their home for the next 52 years. Devoted father of Scott Humber and wife Lani (Hubbard) of Mililani, Hawaii, Chris Humber of North Reading and Robyn Petrillo and husband John of Woburn. He will be missed greatly by his five grandsons Ka'ena and Kaleo Humber , Aiden and Ethan Petrillo and CJ Humber .

Lennie loved spending time with his family and being able to watch his grandsons grow and play sports in Massachusetts and Hawaii. He also loved all his pets Mitzi, Lady, Sammy, Gabby, Phantom and Tiger.

He is survived by his sister Rust Pappathanasi and her husband Arthur of Swampscott and several nieces and nephews

Funeral service will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham.
