Mariane Tarnoff

Mariane P . Tarnoff , age 81, a longtime Wakefield resident died Monday, September 30, 2019 at the Care One in Wilmington.

Born in Montclair, NJ on September 21, 1938 she was the daughter of the late John J. and Hedwig (Buchinski) Stone.

Mrs. Tarnoff was raised in Montclair, NJ and was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, Class of 1956. Following high school, she went to work for the telephone company. While attending a dance, she met her husband, the late Leonard Tarnoff . The two were married on April 24, 1960 and soon after moved to Buffalo, NY before being transferred to Brookline, MA, where they began their family in 1962. In 1967, they moved to Wakefield where they raised their two children and resided for 52 years.

Mrs. Tarnoff was a devoted parishioner at St. Florence Church and was also an avid candle pin bowler at the Wakefield Bowladrome. She loved to do aerobics and to travel with her husband to warm and tropical locations. She loved to host Thanksgiving and will be remembered for her wonderfully baked pies. Mrs. Tarnoff was a devoted dog lover and a breast cancer survivor. Above all things, Mrs. Tarnoff cherished her role as a mother and a grandmother.

She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Tarnoff . She was the loving mother of Leonard J. Tarnoff and his wife Marcia of Montville, NJ and Melissa L. Gustafson and her husband Keith of Wakefield. She was the cherished "Grammy" of Trevor, Jake and Chase Tarnoff and Ava and Harper Gustafson. She was the sister of Roger Stone and his wife Kathleen of E. Hanover, NJ and Christine Lynn Stone of Belleville, NJ. She is also survived by nine nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 9am followed by a Funeral in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7pm. Interment will be private.
