Marilyn J. Conroy

Marilyn J Conroy, age 92, passed away on July 18th at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital after a period of failing health.

Marilyn was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1933 to Fred and Marie Ormond. They relocated up to Cambridge Mass where Marilyn was raised along with her three younger siblings, and was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School. She would meet the love of her life, Jospeh Conroy from Somerville at a CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) dance. She waited for him to complete his military service in the Korean War and they would then marry. They would start their family in Somerville, having their two oldest sons there, but in hopes of a better family environment would relocate up to 'the country', Wakefield, where they would raise their five sons.

For many years Marilyn, in addition to caring for her family, would work her night job at Harvard Trust Company where she was a bookkeeper. She was a member of the 'Mother's Club' in Wakefield and a parishioner at St. Joseph's Church. In later years she would work for Zoll Medical as a bookkeeper.

Once retired, Marilyn and Joe, married for 50 years, would move to Florida, they would enjoy frequent travel together. Unfortunately Joseph passed suddenly in Florida in 2016 and Marilyn decided to move back to Wakefield to be closer to her family. 'Nana' liked nothing better than to be surrounded by her children and their families, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

'Mrs. C' as she was lovingly called by many was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Conroy. She was the loving mother of Stephen of Reading, Kevin and his wife Gail of Wakefield, Douglas and his wife Chris of Wakefield, and daughter in law Lynn of Reading. She was predeceased by two of her sons, Scott and Daniel. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and by many loving nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was also the oldest sibling to, and survived by brothers Fred and Richard Ormond of Florida and sister Dorene Norton of New Hampshire.

Services will be private. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
