Marion Almquist, age 95, a longtime Stoneham resident, died on Monday, February 26th, at the Arbors in Dracut.
She was born in Medford on October 8, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Harry and Lillian (Marcello) Corbett.
Marion lived at her home in Stoneham for 72 years where she loved to garden and took much pride in her beautiful flowers and lawn. She also loved to decorate the inside and outside of the house for every holiday, always receiving compliments from neighbors and strangers alike.
Her family encompassed all aspects of her life, and each family member was very special to her. She never missed a birthday, wedding or special event even when in her 90’s.
Marion loved to read and always had a book in progress. Whether it was a love story or a western, she read them all. She was always well-dressed down to the color of her matching earrings and at age 95 was interviewed and photographed by the Arbors for one of their publications!
Although she missed her home in Stoneham, she made many friends during the last year of her life at the Arbors in Dracut. She enjoyed her elegant surroundings, the delicious meals in the dining room and her view of the courtyard with its beautiful flowers and landscaping.
Marion was the beloved wife of the late Edward F. Almquist. She was the loving mother of Deborah Sweeney of Dracut, Holly Brown and her husband William of New Mexico, and Mark Almquist and his wife Andrea of New Hampshire. Marion is also survived by her grandchildren Valerie Brown, Benjamin Brown, Ryan Sweeney, Scott Sweeney, Tyler Almquist, and Logan Almquist.
She was pre-deceased by her Sisters Dorothy L. Hartery and Alice D. Duddy.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald – Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main Street, Stoneham on Sunday March 3 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Interment, Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
