Marion Mackay

Marion B. MacKay, 85, a long time Wakefield resident, died on Tuesday, April 7 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Boston on October 31, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Kelley) Bennett.

Mrs. MacKay was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1941. She had worked for the First National Stores and Eastern Bank. Mrs. Mackay had lived in the Lincoln School Elderly Housing and was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Wakefield.

Mrs. MacKay was the wife of the late John J. MacKay. She was the mother of John J. MacKay, Jr. and his wife Janis and Steven J. MacKay and his wife Helen all of Wakefield and Edward R. MacKay and his wife Jan Marie of Danvers. Grandmother of Robyn Dione of W. Hartford, CT, Jeff MacKay of Charlestown, Ryan MacKay of No. Reading, Liam MacKay and Colin MacKay both of Wakefield, Brenna MacKay of FL and Michelle Case and Sara Igoe both of Woburn. She is also survived by five great grandchildren. Mrs. MacKay was predeceased by her sister Eleanor Ahern and brothers Charles and Herb Bennett.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Tuesday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church 173 Albion St, Wakefield at 10am. Relatives and friend may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
